Gotten barely anything done recently, just been chilling mostly. Going to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow, as well as taking a hamster cage back (Percy passed away and Andrea got a new hamster, the rest is a longer story), so should have a few things knocked off ye olde presents list, then it's time to finish cleaning/tidying the living room, in preparation for putting decorations and tree up this week.
I've just finished watching The Code Room, and frankly, it's slightly-warmed-up-crap. Well, sure the coders managed to develop an online shopping system really easily in a few drag and drops and in a few clicks..in 5x the necessary time and without a fucking clue how the system actually works.
My tip to whichever Microsoft team is in charge of this show? Get some geeks who aren't already MS-heads involved, and stop dumbing the task down so much, it just isn't working in your favour, if the tech is solid, it'll fly with good techies, not with good marketing (and in a TV format it just looks even more forced).
Was watching The Young Ones (although I own both series on DVD) on BBC Four earlier; I'd forgotten how much of an impact really good music, and very little of which was post-edited, made in a show which the primary genre and format was a sitcom, although a very surreal and black-comedic sitcom but a sitcom nonetheless; half way through the episode (the infamous University Challenge episode, that the BBC so love to repeat), Motrhead just randomly turn up and knock out a rocking rendition of the classic Ace of Spades, and although random (adding to the overall randomness of the show and it's comedy), it serves to enforce the entertainment factor often more prevalent in older shows, when entertainment values actually mattered, instead of townie marketing (don't understand what I mean? Go watch "I'm a celebrity...", I may love Joe Pasquali, but even he couldn't make that show any less of a steaming pile of tack).
Despite the general deteriorating state of the world at large, I'm really looking forward to this Christmas and the possibilities for relaxation and fun that lie in store, and lots curling up in front of the magical box of flashing light and sound with Andrea for some mindless entertainment (as opposed to mindless university work).
Oh yeah, and I have another exam on Thursday..Advanced Programming..mainly algorithms, data structures, and lots of C++. Wooooohooooooooooo! :D
I may get round to revising for this one..maybe. ;)
