I spent this morning helping out on the ComSoc stall at the freshers societies bazaar, attempting to entice people into signing up and giving away free stuff; for the most part it went terrifically, and we should have possibly a 100 or more members by the time of writing!
If you haven't signed up yet, sign up for christs sake! It's only a quid and you get your moneys worth (and for anyone scoffing thinking it's not for them, go read the whole site before making a decision).
Speaking of Christ the Christian Society attempted to grab me earlier; this in itself isn't that bad, being a fence-sitting agnostic I merely told them this and said no thank you, with most of the people on their stall this would have been the end of the story, but not with the two complete pricks who decided to attack me, while I was handing out ComSoc leaflets I might add, trying to force me to join despite my already stated beliefs, while also informing me that ComSoc will not give my life meaning, and that the Christian Society is what's needed to distract me from the boredom of Computer Science (this was stated by the member of the two said-pricks who happened to be a third year CS student)..if you don't like CS, pick another fucking degree is all I have to say on that one.
And the former point, my life already has meaning, and beliefs, and I don't need to believe in something else, I believe in my friends and families; my loved ones are the meaning of my life, and things like Computer Science, an area I thoroughly enjoy, are the little bits of sweetener along the way.
