Eye..Eye..Oww..

I had an eye test Wednesday afternoon, mainly due to being a diabetic they wish to keep a check on my eyes to make sure they're not failing (which is a common problem with diabetes), only rather than the usual doctor shines light in your eyes, gets you to look at chart thang, I got photographed.

They're now taking photographs (using a Polaroid) of the retinas, for a doctor to examine later and mail back the results (making the examination itself amazingly quick); I did get treated to the joys of an eye test (I wonder if I passed, never got chance to revise!) The highlight of the day was becoming artificially short sighted, however, as they required my pupils to be fully dilated before taking the photos, hence eye-drops in each eye, and a blurry time ahead; not in itself a problem as my vision easily corrected itself with concentration, but the double-flash used to take the photos was on the other hand much harsher, and kept my vision blurry for hours to come (and according to Andrea, later on between 7pm and 10pm, still dilated).

I now have a small idea of what it must be like to have such vision difficulties, and I don't envy anyone for it.
