Many many fiddlings later, and the router/modem are working fine again, no thanks to morons at Karoo.
Going to town soon to do some shopping for Andrea's birthday on Friday, will post more when I get back this afternoon.

Don't expect many updates today, as my ADSL modem is now continuously locking up as soon as it connects.
