Next plan of action: the mobile
Next plan of action on the way to improving the current monetary situation: changing my mobile phone and account.
I'm going to get my current number signed over to me from my father, buy a new account and phone (new phone for free based on signing up for another long-haul on the contract), have the number transfered over to the new phone, and cancel the old account; possibly put a pay-as-you-go SIM card in one of my older phones (sell one of them) and give it to my father.
Offering hosted accounts and Hackworth's possible goodbye
I and my father currently spend about £25 a month on Hackworth, the server this website runs on; for that price I have about 10 gigs of bandwidth per month and a very nice machine, also hosted in the UK for optimum speed between myself, my friends, the sites on Hackworth. For the same price I and a friend from uni would be able to rent another machine in the US, with a few hundred times as much bandwidth, much better specs, and I'd be able to lease out accounts to pay for the server and perhaps have some extra cash each month to pay other extras.
The accounts I'm thinking of offering would provide a gig of webspace, the ability to run processes such as IRC servers and MUD's, and about every language and development environment under the sun, along with monthly remote backups, and incredibly good stability (the fact Hackworth's streamline setup has kept it running for well over a year without fail, and with very few bugs which weren't exploited and were fixed with frequent updates).
The price for an account would be about £10 a month, with 1-2 gigs of bandwidth included. If anyone's interested, give me an e-mail.
Where the hell is my towel?
All week Andrea has been wanting to buy towels (don't ask, long story..okay, not long, but I just can't be bothered to type it), and this week was also apparently Towel Day (to commemorate Douglas Adams).
Now that's female intuition.
Good start
Well, had a good start to the day today, slept through my alarm, missing my morning insulin, was woken up by my father around half 12 as he went completely mental at me, shouting about the phone bill that had just arrived.
Oops, too many texts, too much time talking on the phone as well, too much money considering the bill to pay off for accommodation I didn't even use.
I'm closing my post office savings account to pay it off, getting another payment for my current web design job, and selling a few things, probably on eBay.
