University of Hull: Site? More like a bloody sight!

Whoever designed Hull Uni's website is a hack; I mean that in the most derogative manner I could muster.

  • You can't get to the site without using the 'www.` sub-domain; any site (or server setup in this case) that doesn't allow this loses most of it's good-book points in my mind.

  • Search results from the frontpage don't always return Subjects/Courses/Department as top results.

  • Department designs use browser dependant JavaScripts for UI important features and featurettes; in some cases particular examples even break in MSIE, which was more than likely the browser it was designed to run under.

  • Entire sections of the site design contain no information whatsoever, neither straight forward nor contextual, thus existing as pure eye-candy; for the worldwide portal to an institution of learning and information sharing, this is inexcusable.

Right, I'm glad that's all off my chest.

Why say all this now when I'm going to the bloody place in a month?

So I couldn't get blasted for saying it while I was a student there!
