MonkeyMatrixMoves Mirrors..mmmm!
After waiting over 50 minutes to download the MonkeyMatrixMoves game mod for Unreal Tournament 2003 from FilePlanet's obscene servers, I'm so pissed off at the whole ordeal that I'm providing some^[laptop]^ mirrors^[hackworth]^ of the^[karoo]^ file^[gfb]^.
The mod's only 107Kb zipped, to boot, which makes it all the more frustrating.
High speed internet my arse!
Slow 'net night
About 7 out of 10 of my connections have dropped tonight, I'm spending about half an hour in a queue to download one file, and every computer related happening in the past 2 weeks seems to have been one continual stream of "Wes is a meanie, lets fuck with him" events.
Oh well. Breathe in, breathe out..
I've stated before that my view of a truly free Internet (the FreeNet project provides one brilliantly thought out method of content distribution without fear, but once it's distributed, access to that data is still a bastard), would be a wireless mish-mesh, interconnecting nodes across entire cities and even continents. I discussed with Damian earlier, coming to the conclusion that it would never really happen, even with the hordes of amateur wireless networkers picking up the reigns, corporations with vested commercial interests in providing Internet access at a price would never allow it; having said that, some very interesting things are happening that could change it all around; given enough speed, a change in the way we network our machines, and hence our own ideas and methods of communication, would over-take any attempts at dissuading such paradigms.
Feels like the caffeine's wearing off, time to go do that sleep thing.
