Note self: magazine subscriptions
Must remember to get subscriptions to php|architect (for the first time) and 2600 (again, loved getting 2600) at some point.
My 2600 sub ran out over a year ago because I didn't have the money to keep it going, still really don't have the money for either of the above but I'll have to get subs again at some point in the future. A Daemon News sub would be good again as well, that ran out before Christmas.
Tech: 1vCMS v1.0 flatfile database system
I'm remaking the entire system of storing information under 1vCMS v1.0.
In the new DB system, still flatfile I may add, data is stored under the file system, but is accessed for saving information via a CMS daemon (actually about 2-3 scripts to stop any lag in accessing data while writing data) running in the background. This is mainly possible with the brand new spanking server.
The daemon also provides instant access to site wide information as part of shared memory, so no need to access the file system for smaller bits of site wide information.
Also the ThreadD class, I am building to provide a BBS and commenting system in the new site, will use the daemon to store information without any overlap in writing data, as each new entry or command would be stored in a new location (a LIFO queue) in shared memory, using SystemV Semaphore to control shared memory and access rights to the shared memory.
I wake completely satisfied and let the sweat run through my head..
Eating the crappiest pie I've ever had..a strawberries and cream meringue pie, with frozen strawberries in it and barely any other flavour.
The meringue's melted too. I'm giving up on it, before it eats through my stomach at an exponential rate (somewhat akin to college food, really).
The feeling in my hands finally back, doesn't help to slam it between a couch cushion and a wooden frame.
I'm currently absorbing caffeine, in a drive to try and stay awake a bit longer. I finally get to sleep in today (Sunday) after this week of delivery papers, and then see Equilibrium later in the day with Andrea, the D&J of the DWAJ and the unpredictable Damian, as ever. Should be good, as long as we can get everyone there and in health.
So, so knackered. Kept nearly-falling asleep earlier, but avoided falling asleep on Andrea's shoulder (came damn close to it though).
Computing coursework is going well, bullshitting my way through pretty much all of it. If anyone from the Wilberforce IT department reads this, I don't care, you're all a bunch of arse-monkeys, with less computing knowledge than a boatload of syphilitic gibbons on holiday in Swanland (no offense to the occupants of Swanland, but..come on..you know..well..hey look over there!..*scuttle away*)
I was planning to post a photo sketchbook, of the week, tonight, but didn't have enough time, I'll get round to it during the following week (probably with even more photos).
Throughout the day a particular puffin was staring at me, Andrea now has it with her..but..the penguin's still here..looking straight at me, with those beady little black eyes..waiting..always waiting..sometimes meeping..but usually waiting..
